The food was just divine!!!! had the full breakfast menu and every item was different and authentic in flavour. not too spicy or sweet. topped it off with a lovely payasam. Not to mention the friendly staff. keep up the good work!

This is my second visit to Vanakkam restaurant. First for their buffet breakfast. It was very authentic and great quality. Especially there Pongal brought back nostalgic memories of my friends childhood. Filter coffee was good and decor is very good. In all enjoyed the sambhar, chutney, dosa ( made to order) and steel plates and not one time use plate!!!

Everyone talks about the parottas — and they are truly excellent — but the curries feel more niche, catering to lovers of very authentic Tamil Nadu–style flavours. That said, the chicken chettinad worked really well with the parottas and was a standout for me. I also ordered the ghee masala dosa expecting something decent or mid, and this might be a bold claim, but it could be one of the best dosas in Sydney — easily the most authentic I’ve had outside South India. They ask whether you want it fluffy or crispy; I went half-and-half and was genuinely impressed. The potato curry inside is on the spicier side, which I personally loved.

We had such a delightful experience at the restaurant! I indulged in the Parota while my wife savored the Gee Doosa, and we were both absolutely thrilled with our meals. The food arrived quickly, and the friendly staff added to the warm atmosphere. Plus, there’s plenty of convenient parking at the back! I was also really impressed by the beautiful interior of the place. It was a joyful outing for sure!

Prawn 65 is 10/10 Chicken 65 8/10 Mutton chukka - I don't eat but my son liked it so 4/5. Good service. Decent pricing. Quick delivery. Good ambience. Family friendly. Cheerful atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Clean restaurant. old Tamil music adds to the ambience.

Ordered roti porotha (aka roti prata), curry chicken, mango lassi and mutton biryani. The biryani uses jeera rice. Not bad. Generous portion. Food arrived quickly, service is good, venue is clean. Not sure why the review rating is not higher than 3.5. Worth going.

We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was full of flavour and satisfaction! The parotta was incredibly soft and flaky — melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The brain and egg burji was next level — rich, perfectly spiced, and bursting with flavour. The mutton biryani was aromatic and tasty, with tender meat and perfectly cooked rice. The mutton sukka masala was a true standout — bold, spicy, and absolutely a must-try dish. All of this for just $120 for 4 people — generous portions and amazing value for money. Macha, if you love bold, authentic flavours — this is the place! This is the perfect place to enjoy south indian cuisine. I unfortunately reached very late on a Sunday afternoon when it was already closed. Looking at my family and little daughter the staff were very courteous to allow us inside the restaurant even after the closing time. They offered us idlis which were quick and readily available. I am definitely visiting them again to try out other items listed from the menu. The staff is very humble and helpful, they definitely served us with love and we are very grateful about that. There are plenty of restaurants in Sydney but only some are so welcoming and definitely customer centric. Vanakkam Foods is one of them. Thank you.
